Read the nomination forms for the "purpose" of each award and give thought to the teachers, administrators, and community members in your county who deserve this special recognition. The award recipients will be honored at a special luncheon in April (date and location TBA). It is the hope of the committee that we will have nominee representation from all corners of the state of Maryland, from all grade levels, and all music disciplines.
PLEASE give this process your consideration. We have had the opportunity to honor many wonderful award recipients in previous years and many of them have expressed that it was one of the highlights of their career. Help us to identify those who deserve this honored recognition. Review the criteria for each award and follow the "Things to Keep in Mind" suggestions.
Nomination packets are due by January 14th, 2012

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
- Carefully review the criteria for each award
- Answer all questions thoroughly
- Ask PTA members and faculty/staff of the nominee's school to assist in the process – it's easier if you have help gathering the information
- Ensure letters and supporting materials accurately depict nominee’s qualities and contributions – include letters from principals and/or supervisors
- Outstanding Music Program Award – include materials from all aspects of the music program (i.e. band, chorus, orchestra, and general music courses)
- Check nominee materials for: Completed forms, accuracy of information, letters of support, support materials – (copies of programs, awards, photos, etc. Note- theses materials will not be returned)
- Send a picture of the nominee – if they are selected, we would like to place their photo in the spring MMEA Journal (with their permission, of course).
- Place in a binder or folder with nominee’s name and award category
